April Smith
Owner/Instructor/Choreographer   Ms. April’s interest and passion allowed her to follow her dance dreams since the age of 5, when she started dancing at MGM Studio of the Dance in Wichita, Kansas. She has competed and performed both locally and nationally, taken master classes throughout the U.S. and was awarded “All American” all four years of high school and college. After graduation in 2001, she accepted a position at MGM assisting, teaching and choreographing dances that have gone on to win awards such as “Best Choreography” and “Showmanship”. While Ms. April brings a fresh, vibrant and inspiring approach to teaching dance she also thrives on passing along her passion for the love of movement to the hundreds of dancers she has taught and will continue to teach in the Wichita area. Although she is best known for her creative tap and innovative acrobatic skills, her dance repertoire also includes ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and musical theater. Ms. April has acquired lots of “dance kids” over the years, but she also has 3 beautiful children of her own. Jayden (7) and Gabriel (5) who are both involved in dance and Lizzie May (6 months) who is soon to follow in her mother’s many dance shoes.
andrea
Andrea Dimmen
Ballet Director   Andrea started her dance training at the age of 3, so it was no surprise she was offered a full scholarship to Friends University where she primarily studied under Director Stan Rogers and Ballet Mistress Sharon Rogers. While earning her Bachelor’s in Fine Arts, Ballet Performance, Andrea had the opportunity to study with influential teachers and company directors such as Dominic Walsh (Houston Ballet/Dominic Walsh Dance Theatre), Melonie Buchanan (Radio City Rockettes), James Wallace (Dawson Wallace Dance Project), Misty Rascon-Smith (LA Choreographer/Dancer, and Stephen Mills (Ballet Austin). Andrea has performed with Friends University for over 6 years, mostly known for her unparalleled performance as the Arabian Soloist in Roger’s annual production of The Nutcracker. We are thrilled to have Ms. Andrea at Dream Big and she is very excited to share with students about the most perfect art form there is… DANCE!

alissa
Alissa Anderson
Tumbling Instructor Ms. Alissa started dancing at age 5 and has taken ballet, tap, lyrical and acrobatics for 15 years. In that time, she has also competed in jazz, pom and hip-hop, often winning small group championships and later went on to produce award winning jazz and hip-hop choreography for an independent small group. Although her favorite style of dance is jazz, she also has a love for gymnastics that started at a young age. She was accepted to an exhibition team that traveled all over Kansas at the age of 10 and made the switch from athlete to coach in 2007. Since then, she has been an influential part of the East YMCA’s Gymnastics coaching staff, specializing in advanced skills and has successfully coached national competitors and a national champion. Alissa combined her love for gymnastics and dance when she started teaching tumbling and dance acrobatic skills at MGM in 2012. She currently has an A.A.S. in Business Management, a Bachelor’s in Social Work and a Master’s in Social Work. Needless to say, we are very excited to utilize Ms. Alissa’s talents here at Dream Big Dance Studio!
